| What good is it to make these wonderful discoveries and not be able to share it with others. Decades worth of serious study and research had to be matched by exploring various ways to get the word out. Anyone who has ever tried to get published knows how difficult it is. | In October of 2002, I was fortunate to be cast as a French privateer gun captain in Peter Weir's epic saga "Master and Commander; The Far Side of the World". The movie takes place in the 1800's during the Napoleonic wars, and follows the tale of Jack Aubrey (Russell Crowe), a British captain of a ship named the Surprise as he chases down the French privateer ship,the Acheron. It was my 10th feature film as a background extra and thanks to the vision of Peter Weir and the generosity of Russell Crowe, my most memorable. During my bloody battle scenes against the British, I remembered my French heritege a became a French privateer. | Russell was a blast to hang with on or off the set. Friday nights you could find Russ and his pal Peter Weir partying with the locals at his favorite bar after a hard weeks work. My girlfriend Ronnie found Russ chaming as well. |
